The Brown Rat

The Brown Rat
The Brown Rat
Brown rats are ubiquitous in Britain. It is often said that you are never more than six feet from a rat, although the figure is probably closer to 50 ft.  The early figures were based on some basic estimates of the rat population. These were based on observational data. Their tails are important to them. They are used for temperature regulation as well as communicating with their friends.  They also communicate by vibrating their eyes rapidly and clattering their teeth together.

They are social, living in groups with their friends. They show signs if loneliness if separated for too long.  They enjoy the company of humans as well as other rats, making them good pets. Unfortunately they also cause a substantial amount of damage to property. This is the reason for the new rat repellent flooring from Hammer Technologies.

It uses new patent pending technology to keep your car or other property safe.  Rats cause a huge amount of damage to commercial, industrial and residential property every year. They chew wires because their teeth grow at the astonishing rate of 5 inches per year. They need to be worn down constantly otherwise the rat develops significant difficulty eating.  Visit their website to find out more about this amazing new invention.

Interesting Facts About Rats
Rats are fascinating animals and are surprisingly intelligent.  They only need to follow a path round a maze once to learn the route.  This is one of the reasons they are often used in lab testing.  They communicate with each other by chattering their teeth together and making their eyes wobble.

They are more friendly than many people think, which is why they are often kept as pets in the west of the world.  People find them tame, hygienic and intelligent, all good qualities in a pet.

Rats can go for longer than a camel without water and use their tails for balance and controlling their body temperatures.  They are highly social animals and show signs of depression and loneliness if alone for a long period if time.  They communicate using their tails, chattering their teeth together and wobbling their eyes.  Their intelligence comes in useful here.

Unfortunately they do a significant amount of harm to property. This includes feedstock, stored clothing and cars.  As a result Hammer Technologies have developed a new type of anti-rat flooring which will protect your property.  It doesn't harm the rats but just keeps them away, preventing damage.  It does this be creating a safe perimeter.

What Do Rats Eat?

If you are about to buy a rat as a pet you may be wondering what do rats eat? Fact is, they like eating all the same things as people do. This is why they often live in and around the same places that we do, so that they can catch the metaphorical and literal crumbs from our tables. They particularly like fresh fruit and vegetables and food high in protein such as nuts, meat, grains and cheese.

If you have pet rats the best thing that you can do is to feed them a good whole food from a reputable pet shop. This will have all the nutrients that that they need to keep healthy. They are often based on wheat husk and animal oils as well as containing vitamins and minerals. The fibre will help to stop the rats becoming constipated. If you give them a proprietary food it is important to also give them pieces of fruit and vegetables as well as they will enjoy this.

You will need to give them something hard to eat and chew on to keep their teeth short. Nut and seed sticks are ideal.

Rats will eat just about anything but if you stick to these tips they will be happy and healthy.

The Common Rat

The common brown rat is a fascinating creature. It spread around the world with humans, using their homes and activities as a source of food and warmth. Unfortunately they also spread human diseases; around thirty five of them to be precise. They spread them in their wee, poo and spit.

The common rat is surprisingly intelligent and can find it's way through a maze after only being shown once. It is also able to climb into your bathroom through the U-bend and be flushed down the toilet and not die. They are highly resilient.

Their teeth grow constantly throughout their lives. They need to be worn down constantly, leading to the inordinate amount of damage they cause by biting. Cars and industrial machinery are particularly at risk and the costs are two-fold; repairs and downtime. If you can't use your assembly-line robot your production line will fail. You might not even be insured against the damage.

Traditional traps and repellents are only so good; miss one rat and it's bound to find it's way in.

This is where Hammer Technologies' amazing new rat repellent flooring comes in. By creating a secure perimeter around your expensive equipment it will protect it from harm for years to come. Visit the link to find out more.

Best 5 Facts About Rats And Rodents

Best 5 Facts About Rats And Rodents
Best 5 Facts About Rats And Rodents
Rats are highly adapted for dry conditions.  Having evolved in the deserts of Asia the rat has several adaptations which help it survive arid environments.  They have very salty middles to their kidneys which draw as much water out of their urine as possible.  This concentrates it and saves water for other uses in the body.  They don't sweat and cool themselves down by dilating the blood vessels in their tails.

Romans.  The ancient Romans had no separate words for rats and mice instead calling them 'mus maximus' and 'mus minimus'; big mouse and little mouse.

Rats are excellent swimmers.  They can survive being flushed down the toilet and can even re-enter a building via the same tube.

The Isle Of Man.  The word 'rat' is taboo in the Isle Of Man.  It is also an expletive in several other countries in the world and this may be because of rat's negative association with disease.  This could also be the root of many people's fear of them.

Disease.  Rats spread over 35 diseases in their urine, faeces and saliva.  This includes plague, haemorrhagic fever and Weil's disease.  The Black Death was caused by plague and killed between 75 and 200 million people in the 14th century.

They can go without water for longer than a camel. This makes them well suited to desert and other arid conditions.  Their tails are used for temperature regulation through vasodilation and construction. They are also used for communication.  They don't sweat and can survive being flushed down the toilet, being able to reenter the house via the same route.

It is unfortunate that rats cause a huge amount of damage to property every year.  Industrial, commercial and residential properties would do well to invest in one of these new rat repellent floors.  The rodent deterrent uses new patent-pending technology to ensure your cars and machines are safe and rodent free.  Rats cause around $9billion worth of damage every year in the US alone, according to a recent paper.  This is due to them looking for food, warmth and grinding down their teeth which grow at the astonishing rate of 4.5 to 5.5 inches per year

What You Didn't Know About Rats

What You Didn't Know About Rats
What You Didn't Know About Rats
Many people think that rats are solitary, lonesome individuals. They believe they scurry about deliberately chewing on people's property causing damage, loss of money and time.  This isn't true!

Rats are actually highly social individuals who thoroughly enjoy spending time with other rats in large groups. As well as this they actively seek out the company of humans.  This is one of the many reasons that rats make such good pets; people report that they are friendly, intelligent, hygienic and fun.  They show signs of loneliness and even depression if they are kept in isolation for a period of time.

They don't set out to damage the wiring in cars and machinery. The poor little things have teeth which grow continuously throughout their lives at a rate of between 4.5 and 5.5 inches a year.  They need to be worn down otherwise they become unable to eat.  Hopefully this amazing new device from Hammer Technologies will help prevent some of this damage.

A paper form 2009 showed that the damage caused by rats in the US alone came to nine billion dollars a year. The figure now is probably significantly higher than this.  Act now to prevent the damage before it becomes a problem.

Rats are surprisingly interesting creatures. Did you know that they can communicate by vibrating their eyes?  No?  Neither did we.  They also communicate using their tails and by chattering teeth.  They are unable to sweat and use their tails for temperature regulation by contracting or relaxing the blood vessels.

Amazingly enough they can survive being flushed down the toilet and are even able to re-enter the house via the same route.  They are very good swimmers.

Their teeth grow continuously throughout their lives, at a rate of about 5 inches per year.  They need to be constantly gnawing on hard materials to keep them short; this is one of the reasons they do much damage.  Hammer Technologies have come up with a new way of creating a safe zone around your car to keep rats away. You will save yourself a significant amount of time and money if you visit their site.  A paper in 2009 showed that rats do more than nine billion dollars worth of damage in the US alone.  The actual figure in likely to be more than this now.

Here's The Truth About Rats

Here's The Truth About Rats
Here's The Truth About Rats
Rats get bad press.  People are often talking about them damaging their property and spreading diseases.  They are seen as being unhygienic and unfriendly.

Rats are often thought be solitary but in fact they are highly social animals. They prefer to be in a group with their friends and family, rather than being on their own for any length of time. Otherwise they become sad, upset and even show signs of depression.  They communicate with their comrades by moving their eyes backwards and forwards very quickly. They also vibrate their teeth against each other and indicating their thoughts and feelings to each other with their tails.

Rats do nine billion dollars worth of damage to property every year in the US alone, according to a study from 2009.  It is often considered that rats do this maliciously. In fact they are often either looking for food and shelter or they are wearing their teeth down. They need to grind them down constantly to make up for the fact that they grow continuously throughout their lives.  Astoundingly they grow at between four and a half and five and a half inches a year.

Hammer Technologies new rat repellent flooring is an ideal solution to rats damaging your property.  It creates a perimetric zone around your property which keeps rats away.

You're Wrong About Rats!

You're Wrong About Rats!
You're Wrong About Rats!
Many people consider rats to be unfriendly beings who set out to ruin people's property. This isn't the case.  They are actually highly social and enjoy the company of humans. They also become lonely and depressed if they are separated from their own kind for a period of time.

They are effective communicators. Rats use a combination of teeth chattering, tail signals and rapid eye movements to let their friends and family know what they are thinking.

Their teeth are constantly growing at an astonishing rate of 5 inches per year meaning they have to keep chewing hard materials to wear them down.  This is why they do so much damage to cars, industrial robots and machinery.  A US study from 2009 found that around nine billion dollars of damage is done by rats per year in the US alone.  The world-wide total will clearly be more than this.  These figures are despite all the trapping, poisoning and repellents available.

To counteract this, a new invention has been designed which creates a rodent-free zone around the car or machine you are setting out to protect.  Check out the website, there's more information on how it works and how you can hold of one.

Unusual Information About Rats
Not many people know how social rats are.  They have friends and outwardly enjoy the company of humans.  If they spend a long time on their own they become sad and lonely.  They talk to one another through clattering their front teeth together.  They also vibrate their eyeballs and make use of their tails to signal to each other.

Rats tails are also used to control their body temperature. They are surprisingly able to go longer without water than a camel. This is due to their particularly salty kidneys which draws as much water as possible out of their urine.

The famous Karni Devi Temple has many thousands of rats which are held in high esteem and are fed grain and milk by the monks at the temple.  The Hindus believe them to be the wordly incarnation of Ganesh the famous god in the form of an elephant. They believe they will be reincarnated as Sadhus, men holy in the Hindu religion, in their next lives.

Unfortunately, although rats are revered around the world they do billions of pounds worth of damage to property every year.  Hopefully this new invention will go some way to preventing this.  It actively creates a rodent-free zone around your car or other property you want to protect.  Visit the website to find out more.

Man Vs. Rat

Man Vs. Rat
Man Vs. Rat
Here's an interesting new blog about the relationship between Man and Rats. There's an informative article about whether it is true that you are never more than 6ft away from a rat. (Spoiler alert; it's not true.)  It's worth reading to find out how they worked it out.

Rats generate a huge quantity of harm to property around the world every day.  A scientific paper from 2009 demonstrated around $9 billion of ruination each year in the United States alone.  This is in spite of trapping, poisoning and repellents; all the technology mankind has to throw at them.  Rats also cause around 35 diseases which are spread in their urine, spittle and faeces.  They cause so much damage because their teeth grow at five inches each year and they need to work hard to wear them down.

They are particularly resilient little beasts being able to live through flushing down the WC. They even have the ability to come back into the property back up the U-bend.  They can also go for longer than a camel without water and don't sweat.  They use their tails for control of their body heat. Dilatation and constriction of the blood vessels alters the blood flow and regulates the heat loss.
